# FungiFind

> FungiFind (https://fungifind.org) is a free web app for Europe that estimates mushroom foraging conditions from weather, elevation, and habitat. Interactive Pilzklima-Karte, species encyclopedia, and weather-based probability scores — not a guarantee of finds or edibility.

FungiFind is operated by LIFECO GmbH, Vienna, Austria. Legacy domain https://fungifind.lifeco.at redirects to fungifind.org.

Important disclaimers:

- Scores are **weather-based probability models**, not predictions of actual mushroom presence.
- Scores do **not** confirm species identity or edibility. Never eat wild mushrooms without expert verification.
- Only coordinates within Europe are supported (lat 34–72, lon −25–45).
- Public score APIs expose **no private user data** (no accounts, finds, or messages).

Static HTML articles — full text in page source, no JavaScript required. New posts ~1–2×/week. **German (de) is the source language**; articles are auto-translated to en, fr, es, it, pl, cs, fi, sv, hu.

**How agents should use the blog**

1. Discover posts via RSS (`/blog/feed.xml` or `/blog/feed-{lang}.xml`) or sitemap (`/sitemap.xml` → all language blog URLs).
2. Fetch the article HTML URL for full body text (RSS descriptions are excerpts only).
3. Cross-check facts with the article’s sources section and primary sources.
4. Prefer the language matching the user's locale; German is authoritative if translations differ.

Blog articles may be partly auto-generated and editorially reviewed. They are informational only — not species identification, harvest advice, or edibility guarantees.

Score formula combines seasonal window, temperature fit, regional occurrence, elevation, rainfall dynamics, and CORINE habitat gate. Weather from Open-Meteo (and DWD BrightSky where available).

## Public API (read-only, no authentication)

Base URL: `https://fungifind.org/api`

- `GET /score?lat={lat}&lon={lon}&species={latinName}` — Score 0.0–1.0 for one species (optional: `dayOffset`, `days`, `habitat`)
- `GET /score/forecast?lat={lat}&lon={lon}&species={latinName}` — Daily scores up to 14 days (comma-separated species supported)
- `GET /elevation?lat={lat}&lon={lon}` — Elevation in metres
- `GET /habitat/identify?lat={lat}&lon={lon}` — Habitat category (forest, meadow, etc.)

**Species parameter:** Latin binomial, e.g. `Boletus edulis` (Steinpilz), `Cantharellus cibarius` (Pfifferling).

**Example — Steinpilz score near München:**

Rate limits: fair use (~60 requests/minute per IP). Auth endpoints are rate-limited separately.
